About Jamie Helsel Tree Farms

A Family-Run Christmas Tree Farm in Northern Michigan

Running a Christmas tree farm requires patience, dedication, and a long-term commitment to growing healthy trees. Many Christmas trees take 10 to 13 years to reach the right size and shape, and during that time they must be carefully maintained, trimmed, and monitored. At Jamie Helsel Tree Farms, we take pride in nurturing every tree from early growth to harvest. Our work includes:

Preparing trees for seasonal harvest

This year around care and attention to detail helps ensure every customer receives a fresh, full, and healthy Christmas tree.

Our farm focuses on several well-known evergreen varieties that grow well in Michigan’s climate and are loved by families for their appearance, fragrance, and durability during the holiday season.

Tree Species  We Offer

Jamie Helsel Tree Farms offers a variety of spruce and fir Christmas trees to meet different customer preferences. Our available varieties may include: Black Hills Spruce, Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Concolor Fir, Pre-cut Fraser Fir, and Pre-cut Concolor Fir. Each variety offers unique features.

Fraser Fir

One of the most popular Christmas trees in the United States because of their classic shape and strong branches that hold ornaments well.

Concolor Fir

Known for their soft needles and pleasant citrus-like scent. Easy to decorate and comfortable to handle.

Spruce Varieties

Blue Spruce and Black Hills Spruce provide beautiful color and strong branch structure, making them excellent choices for larger ornaments and traditional displays.

Fresh-Cut and Live Potted Trees

Our Choose and Cut farm location in Michigan offers both fresh-cut Christmas trees and live potted trees, giving customers flexible options depending on their needs. Fresh-cut trees are available during the holiday season beginning the first weekend after Thanksgiving. These trees are carefully harvested to ensure freshness and quality for your home.

For customers looking for a living tree that can be planted and enjoyed even after the holiday season we also offer 3–6 foot potted Christmas trees. These trees are dug with their root systems intact so they can be transplanted into your yard after Christmas. Potted trees are available during several seasonal windows:

Spring digging season:  April through mid-May

Fall digging season:  Beginning in September

Limited availability:  during the Christmas season

These trees are ideal for customers who want to create a lasting landscape feature while still enjoying a traditional Christmas tree experience.
